| "...we decided to draw our own sense of place--a "caricature" of another world. To explain briefly: we decided to make drawings using the streets and sidewalks as our literal "ground." Inspired by the Belgian born, Mexico City artist Francis Alys, we wanted to use a can of dripping paint to mark our path. To make the largest drawings possible, stretching from one end of Montreal to another, and inspired by the ubiquity of bicycles in the city, we outfitted ours with a paint dripping system, transforming them into drawing contraptions..." Recently the project was written about in a Montreal arts journal. >> coming soon! >> learn more about this project |

<<Documenta 11, Kassel Germany. July 2002
This a polaroid (one of the only two pictures that I
have from my trip to Europe) taken in Kassel near the Cocooning Lofts,
a temporary hostel set up near the exhibition sites. We wandered past
a parking lot with a low metal gate which we promptly attempted to limbo
under, past a disco with Turkish and African youth. We walked by a auto
lot with PT cruisers and took this picture with one of those old folding
polaroid cameras. |
